Charcoal & briquettes

Which charcoal or briquettes suit your perfect grilling session?

As a true Grill Fanatic, you know that the right choice of charcoal makes a world of difference. Different types of charcoal have unique properties: do you want to grill quickly and hot, or rather long and slow at lower temperatures? In addition, flavour plays a big role. Do you go for a neutral smoke flavour, or do you prefer a more powerful smoking sensation? Each type of charcoal is specially made to take your BBQ experience to the next level.

Charcoal or briquettes?

For burning the coal barbecue, you first of all have the choice between charcoal and briquettes. Charcoal is pure nature and gives a smoke infusion in addition to heat. It ignites quickly, but also burns up faster than briquettes. These, in turn, give long-lasting, even heat. Smoke infusion is minimal. Charcoal is your go-to for hot & fast sessions and that authentic BBQ flavour.

White Quebracho Restaurant Quality Charcoal

Looking for a charcoal that burns long and gives off mild smoke? White quebracho is perfect for the avid BBQ’er who wants to grill for a long time without making the flavour too intense. This charcoal is made from the Quebracho Blanco tree in Paraguay. Gives consistent heat and a mild, neutral smoke flavour.

Hornbeam & Oak Restaurant Quality Charcoal

This premium charcoal consists of extra-large pieces of 80 to 120 mm, ensuring optimum air circulation and stable, long-lasting heat. It burns efficiently with minimal smoke and sparks and adds a subtle wood aroma. For longer grilling sessions on various types of barbecues, from Kamados to Kettle barbecues.

Marabu: sustainable charcoal from Cuba

This Cuban charcoal is made from the Marabu bush, a fast-growing plant that overgrows the local ecosystem. By converting it into charcoal, the residual wood gets a second life, and you a sustainable fuel for your barbecue. The pieces are compact and rock hard. The long-lasting glow gives a constant temperature and the coals can be relit, especially after some shorter sessions.

Gives a mild, neutral smoke during longer sessions or multiple rounds of grilling on Kamado or Kettle.

BBQ Woodwool

Lighting your barbecue quickly and simply? With our 100% natural wood wool, you’ll get it going in no time. No chemical additives, just pure nature to get your BBQ going. Suitable for Kamados, charcoal barbecues or even your fireplace.

Tips for using charcoal

  • For quick grilling: use smaller pieces of charcoal for high, direct heat. For steaks and burgers, among other things.
  • Low & slow: choose larger pieces of charcoal, such as Hornbeam & Oak, for long-lasting, stable heat. Pulled chicken or pork gets that real BBQ edge from it.
  • For a subtle smoke flavour: mix your charcoal with some smoke wood or use the Quebracho for a mild smoke flavour.
